Enhance Your Eyes Fast: Ditch the Eyeshadow for a Flawless Lash Line
Sheridan MeyersShare
In the world of makeup, it's easy to get caught up in the trends and complex techniques. We all want to master the perfect cut crease or blend our eyeshadows to seamless perfection. But let’s be honest—sometimes we just don't have the time, the confidence, or the motivation to pull off an intricate eyeshadow look.
That's why I adopted a little non-rule that has simplified my makeup routine and still leaves me feeling put-together. While there’s definitely a time and place for an epic eyeshadow moment, this approach is perfect for those days when you're short on time or just want to keep things simple.
The Focus Shift: From Eyelid to Lash Line

Instead of spending ages blending shadows and perfecting your crease, shift your focus to your lash line. Here's how to achieve a polished, eye-catching look in just a few steps:
Bronzer on the Lid: Start by sweeping some bronzer across your eyelid with your bronzer brush. This quick step adds a bit of warmth and depth to your eyes without needing multiple shades or a blending brush.
Thin Liner: Apply a thin line of eyeliner along your upper lash line. You can go 1/3 of the way across or extend it all the way if you prefer a more dramatic look. You can use a liquid liner pen for precision, a dark shadow with an angled brush for a softer look, or even smudge some kohl pencil for a more effortless vibe. Finish by tightlining your upper waterline to enhance the appearance of fuller lashes.
Curl Those Lashes: Now for the key step—lash curling. A well-curled lash can make all the difference. Use a lash curler and really work it. Hold the curler for about 5 seconds, pump a few times, and then hold again for a lasting curl.
Double Coat with Mascara: Apply a good tubing mascara to your lashes. Tubing mascaras are my personal preference because they offer long wear, are easy to remove, and give that extra definition to your lashes. Two coats will give you that lifted, fluttery lash look.
Optional Extra: Lashes: If you’re feeling a bit extra, add a few individual lashes on the outer corners for a subtle cat-eye effect. Alternatively, cut a full strip lash into halves or thirds and apply them for a natural yet enhanced look. And if you’re a pro at applying full strip lashes in 5 seconds flat, go for it! Personally, I’d rather let my kid do my makeup than attempt a full strip, but I salute those who can.
My Go-To Tubing Mascaras
If you're curious about the mascaras I love, here are my top picks:
MAC Cosmetics Australia Extended Gigaback Lash Play: A cult favourite for a reason, this mascara offers length and definition with zero smudging.
Mirenesse Lash Whip Tubing Mascara: Another great option that delivers on both wear and removal ease.
The Takeaway
So, the next time you're short on time or just not in the mood for a full eyeshadow look, try this lash line-focused approach. It's quick, easy, and just as flattering—plus, it’s a great way to simplify your routine without sacrificing style.
